Studio Class Descriptions

 

LITTLES & MAMAS DANCE

This class is for Littles ages 2 - 3 Years Old and their Mamas (Papas, Gigis, Nannys, etc. welcome of course!). We will explore exercises that encourage imagination through creative movement as well as introduce our tiniest movers to rhythm and music.

LITTLES & MAMAS YOGA

This class is for Littles ages 2 - 3 Years Old and their Mamas (Papas, Gigis, Nannys, etc. welcome of course!). We will explore exercises that encourage imagination through yoga movement as well as introduce our tiniest friends to rhythm and music.


CREATIVITY & STORYTELLING

For Littles & Mids - A class that honors our heart and mission. We explore creativity + storytelling through improv, creative dance exercises and artful projects that teach the connections of art and dance.

IMPROVE & DANCE MAKING

For Bigs - A class that honors our heart and mission. We explore creativity + storytelling through improv, creative dance exercises and artful projects that teach the connections of art and dance.


WELLNESS

A class that teaches wellness practices for the individual and dancer. Dancers will rotate through a series of wellness exercises such as barre, pilates, and nutritional wellness during the semester. This is a required class for our performance company.

BALLET & POINTE

A style of dance that uses precision and highly formalized steps and methods. This style of dance teaches the fundamentals of all other styles and is a required class for our performance teams. Pointe evaluations will be facilitated and approved by our Ballet Director.


CONTEMPORARY

A style of dance that combines elements of modern, lyrical, and jazz styles in a fluid and expressive movement quality. This style of dance welcomes a connection of mind and body through storytelling.

JAZZ

A style of dance that builds on the fundamental techniques of ballet using dynamic movement quality. Jazz is a high energy, expressive style that utilizes leaps, turns and athleticism to heighten performance execution.


MUSICAL THEATRE

A style of dance that is theatrical in nature. This style of dance combines song, acting and dance while commonly utilizing elements of other genres such as ballet, jazz and tap.

TAP

A style of dance that uses rhythmic variations to tap out audible sounds using the toe and heel while wearing tap shoes. Musicality and rhythm is especially emphasized in this style of dance.


MODERN

A style of dance that focuses on the dancer’s interpretation and celebrates a greater freedom of movement. Historically influenced by great modern dance artists of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

HIP-HOP

A style of dance that encompasses a wide range of street dance styles. Hip-hop is largely improvisational by nature - involving different contracting and relaxing movements.


KINDNESS CARDIO & YOGA

An affirmation based fitness style movement class for Littles & Middles. This class is perfect for kiddos with high energy and bright spirits! Everyone has a place - come move with us!

 

THE LITTLE GARDEN CLUB

The Little Garden Club - growing and raising amazing individuals! We know our place in being the author of meaningful moments in children’s lives and this is where life’s most precious lessons will be shared and nurtured through our love of gardening and learning! This class is a 4 week drop in class by nature and will rotate on a bi-monthly schedule with The Little Book Club.

THE LITTLE BOOK CLUB

The Little Book Club - nurturing and raising amazing individuals! We know our place in being the author of meaningful moments in children’s lives and this is where life’s most precious lessons will be shared and nurtured through our love of reading and learning! This class is a 4 week drop in class by nature and will rotate on a bi-monthly schedule with The Little Garden Club.

THE GARDEN POST

A creative writing and community project class. The Garden Post is a publication led by the Littles & Middles of Sweet Yield Studio. We envision an annual almanac curated by the members of The Garden Post. Published and produced by our tiniest community members and leaders.
