A peaceful COVID-19 update.

The world is watching, sweet friends. How we lead, what we give, what we take - matters. My heart is aching for our OKC community and our global neighbors. Our next steps, the choices we make, goodness they are important.

As a small business owner, I have to acknowledge the fact that the upcoming days, weeks, and months will be difficult on our local business community. Please support local now more than ever before. Please buy the gift cards. Please write the positive reviews. Please be patient with us. Please be safe.

The email below is the peaceful charge we are leading with at Sweet Yield. I am honored to love each collective member of this family. We are peace beacons of the sweetest light you have ever seen.

Hello, sweet one.

What a week for our OKC community. Though heavy it may be, I believe in your ability to capture the power of presence and peace as we navigate these uncertain times.

At Sweet Yield, we are fully aware of the current state of events and continue to closely monitor the evolving Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. We are following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as the OKC-County Health Department (OCCHD) recommendations on prevention and spread of the virus.

The safety of your child and your family is our number one priority. The studio is currently closed for our scheduled Spring Break. We are using this time away to evaluate, deep clean, process, and plan our next steps. Our goal is to work toward solutions that honor the investments we have made in each other and fully celebrate a beautiful season. Please embrace with full understanding that we are seeking to make decisions out of the deepest care for the physical, mental, and emotional wellness of your child and family. We ask for your patience as this an evolving issue. We will provide updates in a timely manner over the next week via our studio email, studio texting service, studio member facebook group, and this COVID-19 Update page on our website.

I understand anxiety and worry are high due to fear and uncertainty. Please allow me this moment to speak into the power we have as a family to lead with peace and empathy in our community. Though my concern is great for all, it is your children that I serve and they are my treasure. Now is the time for us to protect them with our sensible response and peaceful action. It is within our power to create a safe space for our children. We encourage you to join us in holding peace for their hearts, for their bodies, and for their minds by keeping life as routine and as normal as possible while practicing safe measures. They are the most amazing individuals I know and they are aware of what is going on around them. This simple intention will help them immeasurably at this time.

Below are ways we have pressed against these outside fears in the classroom. Please feel free to practice these exercises at home and remember I am always a phone call or facetime away for any friend that needs a conversation or an impromptu dance session.

All my love,

Miss Hannah Ashford

A Moment of Rest & Meditation
Have your child lay on their back and close their eyes. Play a soothing song. Remind them to breathe and watch their tummy rise and fall. Inhale for 1,2,3,4. Exhale for 1,2,3,4.

Highs and Lows
At dinner or during your nightly routine ask your child to share a High (good/happy) or Low (bad/sad) moment of their day. This conversation will give you insight into their world. You’ll be surprised what they share. You’ll also be surprised that their resilient little spirits have a hard time remembering a low - again, they are amazing!

Movement
Remember movement has the ability to move your child (or you) from one state of being to another. If they are feeling worried, angry, etc. Simply get up and MOVE. Do jumping jacks together or play freeze dance in the living room. Go on a walk. Then revisit that hard moment in a less reactionary state of being.

Bedtime Mantra
Place your hand on your child’s chest and have them repeat after you.
I am safe.
I am brave.
I am full of peace.
